Tako Plushie

So the other day I decided that I wanted to make a plushie after I saw this Brain-Slug-Plushie. It gave me an idea, which was to make a tako. If you don't know what a tako is, it's just the Japanese word for octopus. Any so I made one and left some instructions for you to make one as well. Go on and start crafting your very own Tako you know you want too, he's just to adorable to pass up.


So here's how you can make one as well.

You will need some type of stuffing (I used cotton balls), buttons, a marker, a needle, thread, scissors, things you can use to trace for circles, and two fabrics.






1st Step: Making a mouth.


 Set your trace item down and go around it with a black marker to make a small circle. Then cut it out and leave it for later.

 2nd Step: Tackling the tentacles

 First on a piece of paper drawl and cut out a thumb shaped template. Then double your fabric (set one sheet on top of the other) and begin tracing eight of these.






Then cut the eight traces out. You should end
up with sixteen of them. This is because of doubling the fabric.










3rd Step: Tackling tentacles pt.2

  Take two of your thumb shapes and sew them together.
 -DO NOT sew the straight part of your tentacle that is where you will fill it later. -

 Then flip it inside out so that the stitching no longer shows.



Finally stuff you tentacle.
*Continue this step until all eight of your tentacles have been made.*

 4th Step:  The bottom 

 Find something circular and make sure that your tentacles fit around it. If they do trace it and cut it out.

5th Step: The front & back

 

Next, double your fabric and make another thumb shape. This time use your large cut out circle to know how big the top should be. (You should have two of them because of doubling).




6th Step: Fantastic Faces
The last thing you are going to do before final construction is to give him a face, and maybe a name too while your at it.

Sew on two buttons for eyes, then sew on your small circle from earlier with a button over it for his mouth.




<Mr. Octo/ Mr. Tako is starting to look Kawaii Desu to me. :3



7th Step: Putting him together

Finally sandwich his little feets in between his bottom and the bottom of either his front side of back side. (Doesn't matter because you will be doing this step with both sides.) Stitch everything into place.






Once all of his legs and both his front and back sides are stitched on sew his sides together but leave an opening on the top.






Now use the opening on the top to put your stuffing into him then sew up the top of his head and .....

.....Tada you have your Tako <3  isn't he cute!!!
